Trahan, a family name synonymous with construction, development, and real estate in Acadiana for over 58 years. In 1964, Cecil D. Trahan, began his career designing and building homes. He was one of the largest homebuilders in the area. He later started a commercial development division where he developed many office parks that are well known today. It would only be a matter of time when his adult sons Todd and Chad would follow in his footsteps.

Todd graduated from University of Southwestern Louisiana from the College of Business Administration in 1984. He received his real estate license in 1985. He moved to Atlanta in 1986 where he worked primarily in commercial real estate leasing professional office space. In 1994 he decided to mix his favorite past time, enjoying a good cigar, with a small business opportunity and opened the first “The Cigar Merchant’ in Alpharetta, Georgia. The success of this would lead to opening an additional 2 stores in Atlanta and one here in Lafayette in the Oil Center. In 2006 he would be called back to Lafayette to join forces with his brother, Chad, and father to do what they do best, which is development and real estate.

Chad’s interests were drawn to construction and development. After graduating from St. Thomas More in 1986, he attended LSU and continued his love for construction as Superintendent for No Fault, a tennis court & running track construction company. In 1991 he started a residential remodeling company, where he specialized in high-end renovations and custom home building. He took a brief hiatus from construction to assist his brother in opening “The Cigar Merchant” in the Oil Center. It wasn’t long before development and construction would call him back to his passion. In 2006 he obtained his real estate license and began collaborating with his father and brother on local commercial development projects.

In 2013 Todd and Chad founded Trahan Real Estate Group and are currently an affiliate with Coldwell Banker which offers a global brand of residential and commercial services to Lafayette and surrounding areas. Todd’s wife, Cindy, is Senior Financial Accounting Manager of the office and Chad’s wife, Carol Ann, manages several commercial properties in Lafayette.

With 50 plus years of combined service they provide their clients with extensive knowledge and decades of experience in highly successful agent representation and brokering across the entire spectrum of real estate endeavors. Both are supporters of UL Lafayette, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lafayette, Boys and Girls Club of America and Sky High for Kids, St Jude’s Children Hospital to name a few.
